Grand Solmar Vacation Club is located at the very tip of the Baja Peninsula in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Los Cabos is well known to fisherman because it is home to more big-money fishing tournaments than just about anywhere else on earth. Although sport fishing is exceptional in Los Cabos all year long, there are some significant world famous fishing tournaments with major payouts that will be starting soon. Even if you are not prepared to spend over the $60,000 it requires to enter across the board in the Bisbee’s Black & Blue, it is still a great time to be in town for all the excitement that goes along with it. While the Bisbee’s Black &Blue certainly has the highest payouts, there are some other tournaments you can consider joining that take place leading up to it and also after it.
For example, from October 14 – 18, 2018 the Los Cabos Billfish Tournament is a big-fish three-day team event that honors the teams that tallies the most points per pound. According to the rules of this tournament, the top three teams with the highest total points over the three-day event receive prize money. This tournament also rewards the boat that releases the most billfish with a trophy and a cash prize. Winners of these events often receive invitations to other world-class fishing tournaments around the world that are by invitation only according to Grand Solmar Vacation Club.
The Los Cabos Offshore tournament is the second of three Bisbee tournaments that take place on the Baja every year and is considered the leadup to the multi-million dollar Black and Blue. This year, the Los Cabos Offshore tournament will take place from October 18th through the 21st. For the past five years, this tournament has averaged at least eighty teams with the top three placers earning significant payouts. Many teams that are preparing for the major tournament that follows this one use it as practices runs to try and locate potential fishing grounds for the next event.
That is because the next event is what is considered one of the granddaddies of all fishing tournaments. From October 23rd through the 27th of this year Cabo San Lucas will host one of the highest paying fishing tournaments in the world, the Bisbee’s Black &Blue. Base entry fee for this tournament is only $5000, but if you want to include all the dailies and pay for everything across the board, your entry fee can exceed $60,000. But in life, as in fishing, the higher the risk, the higher the reward. Consider that in 2006 the team Bad Company walked away with a championship check of over $3.9 million and in 2012 team Frantic Pace was not too far behind with a check of almost $2.5 million. According to Grand Solmar Vacation Club, reservations for accommodations should be made well in advance as the town is quite full during the times of these fishing tournaments.
